Salisbury Enrollment Numbers Improving

Harry S Truman Elementary School is showing a high number of kindergarten enrollments and Salisbury High School has a higher number of incoming freshman than last year.

Principal Barbara Samide told the school board Wednesday there are 63 students registered for kindergarten so far, and that number will likely increase. As a result, there will be three sessions of kindergarten with 21 students in each.

Assistant Principal William Dovico said there will be 158 freshmen enrolled, which is considered large, he said.

This year, Salisbury schools will start before Labor Day for the first time. Orientation for students in kindergarten, first, sixth and ninth grades will be Aug. 27. All students report to school Aug. 28-30. School will not be held for students and faculty on Aug. 31 and Sept. 3.
