Salisbury High School Students Depart for Greece

A group of juniors and seniors from Salisbury High School departed the U.S. Tuesday for a two-week trip to France, Greece and Italy.

Despite a strike by a Greek trade union, a group of Salisbury High School students and social studies teacher Jennifer Brinson left Tuesday, June 28 for a two-week trip to France, Greece and Italy.

"We're gonna play it by ear," Brinson told the group as they gathered at the rear of the white 12-passenger van packed with their luggage.

Parents and students remained calm as Brinson discussed the possibility of a delay.

"Worst case, we spend the day in Paris and that's not so bad," Brinson joked.

Three seniors and four juniors will be traveling with Brinson. An annual year-end trip is open to juniors and seniors every year. This year, the plan is to spend a little time in Paris before heading on to Greece and Italy.

Brinson suggested they visit the Louvre during the day Wednesday with a stop at the Eiffel Tower later that evening. No one complained.

Hotel reservations have already been made for the group in Paris for Wednesday night. Brinson is hopeful to move forward with the scheduled itinerary by Thursday.

An online trip link will be available 24/7 for parents and loved ones here in the U.S. Brinson said she hopes to stay connected by uploading photos and updates via her iPad.
