Salisbury Students Enter Video to Win $1,000 for Race for Adam Foundation

Salisbury students write original song and shoot video to win $1,000 for Salisbury Middle School teacher's ailing son, Adam Recke.

A Salisbury High School student's video is one of three finalists in a local contest he entered to win $1,000 to help a who suffers from a rare disease, Niemann-Pick Type C.

Casey Creveling and Alan Mendez, both juniors, wrote an original song, "Tomorrow Afternoon," for their video, "Race for Adam," which they entered in the 1G for Good Contest. They hope to get as many votes from the public as possible by the September 1 deadline.

"I shot the video in the two days before finals,"  Creveling wrote in an e-mail. "Everyone was great about helping us out and holding our signs! I also edited the video and then submitted it to the contest."

"For the song, Alan recorded all the vocals and I recorded both guitars. Alan recorded the drums using a drum kit pre-set on his keyboard. We recorded most of the instruments in one take," Creveling said.

If the video wins, the students would donate the money to the named after Adam Recke, who has Niemann-Pick Type C. His father, Sean, teaches at Salisbury Middle School. The foundation helps all families dealing with Niemann-Pick Type C disease and promotes awareness.
