Salisbury Students to Make Up Two Snow Days

Salisbury School District officials wants students to start the winter with five full snow days as planned, an administrator said.

Salisbury Township School District students will have to make up the two days the district was closed due to a major power outage caused by the freak October snowstorm, Salisbury Township school administrators announced at the school board's Nov. 7 curriculum and technology meeting.

Students will now attend school on Feb. 17, the Friday before the President's Day holiday weekend, and on April 4, the Wednesday before Easter break. The first day was previously part of the holiday weekend and the latter was a professional development day for staff.

"We want to make up these two snow days so we can start the winter with the five full snow days, as we planned," said Assistant Superintendent Louise Beauchemin.

The decision did not require board action.

"The superintendent decided and it's a done deal," Beauchemin said.
