St. Thomas More Principal Retires

Principal Carl Weber will retire June 30 after 6 years at St. Thomas More School.

With a warm smile and a hint of sadness in his voice, Carl Weber recalls his six years at in Salisbury Township as some of the greatest years of his life.

"These six years were my Camelot years," he said. "They have been wonderful--the most wonderful, the most challenging and the most gratifying years of my professional life."

Weber, 67, is set to retire from St. Thomas More School June 30.

Weber has been in the education field for 45 years--25 years as a teacher and 20 as a principal or interim principal.

Weber says he will miss St. Thomas More's spirit and faith-based community.

"The spirit of St. Thomas More, the culture of the community sharing, of respect all coming through the thread of our desire to choose Christ is what I will miss most," said Weber.

There are four accomplishments he said he is most proud of during his time at St. Thomas.

  • The gains the school has made in information technology. Every classroom has a SMART Board and students could have access to more technology next year.
  • The advanced math program.
  • An instructional support program that now includes gifted students.
  • A Director of Catholic Christian Environment.

"I owe a great debt of gratitude to Monsignor [John] Murphy for the trust and confidence he placed in me," Weber said. "It was Monsignor who afforded me this extraordianary opportunity to contribute as an educational leader at St. Thomas More School. I shall always cherish my relationship with him."

Weber said the biggest challenge he faced at St. Thomas More was maintaining a high level of academic excellence in information technology.

Once retired, Weber plans to garden, travel to car museums, attend classic car festivals and go for long walks. In addition he plans to spend quality time with his wife, Anita, daughter, Kirsten Belluci, M.D., grandson, Demetrius, 2.5, granddaughter, Vittoria, 1 and son, Brett Weber, PhD.

Assistant Principal Peter Schutzler will replace Weber as principal on July 1.
