Swain Administrator Participates in Holocaust Seminar

Kyle Armstrong, associate head for academics, at Swain, attended thought-provoking seminar last week at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Kyle Armstrong of The Swain School in Salisbury Township participated in a five-day seminar for educators called The Holocaust and Human Behavior at Columbia University last week, which he writes about on The Swain School blog.

"This history plugs into our lives because it’s about choices.  How am I behaving and what are the consequences of my choices?," Armstrong writes. "It’s the universal themes of blind obedience and the decisions of bystanders that will always be relevant in our conversations with kids."

The course is part of the Facing History and Ourselves curriculum on racism, prejudice and antisemitism which Swain will teach again for the consecutive third year to the eighth grade.
