Swain Students Earn Impressive Wins at Pa. Junior Academy of Science Competition

Fifteen Swain students competed, 12 earned first place, three took second place.

The Swain School in Salisbury Township had a strong showing last week at the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science competition at Penn State. Fifteen seventh- and eighth-grade students from the school competed, 12 earned first place awards, and three took second place honors.

Under the guidance of science teacher Debbie Lindsay, each student developed a thesis and then devised an experiment to substantiate it.  The students presented their projects at the competition, explaining their process and the results. In February they competed at a regional competition in Easton, each earning first place awards.
