The Swain School Class of 2011

Swain graduates 20 eighth-graders.

The Swain School in Salisbury Township graduated 20 members of its eighth grade class at ceremonies on June 7.    

Middle School Student Senate President Brooke Talsania of Fogelsville (Northwestern Lehigh School District) addressed the gathering of family, friends, fellow students, faculty and staff.  Swain alumna Christina Bortz ’02 presented the commencement address.

Diplomas were presented by Head of School Todd Stansbery, Associate Head of Academics Kyle Armstrong, and James Nallo, chair of Swain’s Board of Trustees to:

            Five members of the class – Sabrina Kennedy, Nathanael Rakos, Gretchen Ray, Vasiliki Tahos, and Jonathan Young  – were honored as “lifers”: students who started in Swain’s three-year-old program and attended Swain through eighth grade.
These special awards were given:
The Swain School Award (awarded each year to the student who best reflects the qualities of
    citizenship, scholarship and sportsmanship): Benjamin Cohen
The James Edgar Swain Memorial Award (awarded to the student who best represents the spirit of 
    The Swain School in terms of honor, integrity and commitment to high ideals): Ashley O’Neill
The  Community Service Award: given to the student who displays character, integrity, perseverance
    and responsibility in completing independent community service outside of Swain: Brooke Talsania
The Susan E. Clegg Memorial Award: given to the student who best represents the qualities of
    kindness and consideration for others and who exemplifies the spirit of harmony and unity in the
   Middle School: Ebony Carter
Head of School Society (awarded to those students who maintain an A- or better average for each
    marking period for grades 6-8): Benjamin Cohen, Shea Lawless, Ashley O’Neill, Nathanael Rakos,
    Gretchen Ray, and Brooke Talsania.
