South Mountain Preserve Walk

Part of the Get Out Lehigh Valley walk series sponsored by Lehigh Valley Hospital. Registration limited to 75 people.

April 28: South Mountain Preserve Walk, 111 Klines Lane, Emmaus.

An easy 2/3-mile walk, with some uphill and downhill sections, but recommended for children 8 or older. You’ll walk through a mature forest with an interesting geological history and see remnants of a 19th-century mining operation. It begins at 10 a.m. the South Mountain Gateway Trail Head at 111 Klines Lane in Emmaus and should take more than 2 hours.

May 5: Trexler Nature Preserve Spring Bird Walk, Trexler Environmental Center, 4935 Orchard Road, Schnecksville.

Starts at 8 a.m. with a presentation at the Trexler Environmental Center, 4935 Orchard Rd., Schnecksville. A Lehigh Valley Audubon Society member will give a presentation on the spring migration of song birds from the tropics to the Valley. It’s followed by a bird-watching walk through the preserve.
