Salisbury Baseball Starts Road to District Title

The Salisbury boys baseball team, champions of the Colonial League, will take on Pine Grove Friday night in a semifinal District 2A game at Limeport Stadium.

The Salisbury High School baseball team, fresh off earning a Colonial League championship earlier this month, will embark on its quest for another District 11 2A title Friday night.

The top-seeded Falcons, who drew a first-round bye, face Pine Grove in the semifinal round Friday night at 7 p.m. at Limeport Stadium.

Should the Falcons advance, they will contest the District 2A title game against either Notre Dame-Green Pond or North Schuylkill on Wednesday, May 29 at 4:30 p.m. at Coca-Cola Park.

It's been another banner year for Salisbury baseball.

Four Falcons have been named to the Colonial League all-star baseball first team:

  • Senior pitcher Nicolas Ampietro
  • Senior third baseman Tyler Cooperman
  • Junior shortstop Justin Aungst
  • Junior outfielder Brad Vangeli

Nic Ampietro is also the Colonial League south MVP for the season.

Salisbury won its 11th Colonial League championship title last year.

In 2011, the Falcons made history by becoming the school's first team to compete for a state title in any sport.
