Salisbury Knocks Off Oley Valley, Advances to Semi-Finals

Salisbury pounded a succession of Oley Valley pitchers Thursday afternoon with a relentless offense that never let the Lynx get close, winning the PIAA 2A baseball playoff quarter-final game, 9-3, at Parkland High School. Falcon Freshman Justin Aungst, winner of the District 11 2A championship game last week at Coca-Cola Park, pitched well from the beginning on a hot afternoon,  but ran out of gas without getting an out in the 5th inning. Aungst was relieved by sophomore Nic Ampietro, who pitched himself into and out of trouble the rest of the way. Ampietro only gave up one run despite having two or three Lynx runners on the bases in every inning he pitched. Salisbury will move on to the semi-final round to play the winner of Thursday's game between Danville and York Catholic.
