Salisbury Spring Sports Update

A look at Salisbury Falcons more than midway through the spring sports season.

The Salisbury High School is more then half over. Here is a look at how the Falcons are doing in their respective sports.

The has been playing well this season. The Falcons sit at 7-3 overall and 5-3 in the Colonial League South, which is good for first place in the league. Salisbury started the season 4-0, and has won two of their last three to continue its success.

As a team, the Falcons are batting .295 and have an on base percentage of .402. Six batters are hitting over .300. Brad Vangeli leads the team with a .400 batting average, while notching nine RBIs and eight runs. Nicholas Ampietro is batting .393 with 14 runs scored and four RBIs. Zachary Harper leads the team with 14 RBIs and is batting .312 on the season.

The Falcons will host Saucon Valley on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

The softball team, despite a 1-7 record, will look to improve the rest of the season. Salisbury will host Saucon Valley, who is in first place in the Colonial League South, on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. A win against the top team in the league could give the Falcons confidence and an opportunity to end the season on a winning streak.

With three games left on the schedule, the girls soccer team will look to end on a positive note. Sitting at 3-6-1 in the Colonial League South, the Falcons will finish off their season against Southern Lehigh, Notre Dame GP and Palisades. The Falcons will next travel to Southern Lehigh on Wednesday. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.

The boys and girls track and field team are currently 1-4 in the Colonial League South. Despite some early troubles, a lot of notable performances are worth mentioning.

Hailey Kester is currently in second in the girls pole vault event. She managed to clear the bar at 3.35m. In the girls triple jump event, Amanda Reichenbach recorded a score of 9.70m, just .2m behind leader Sara Vough of Pen Argyl.

Alex Foulke is tied for the best time in the boys 100m dash event with a time of 11.40. Foulke also has the third-best time in the 200m dash event at 23.80, and second-best time in the 400m dash event at 53.20. Isaiah Mast is tied for seventh with a height of 1.72m in the boys high jump event, and Dan Reichenbach has the second-best result in the boys triple jump event at 12.90m.

Track and field will travel to Southern Lehigh on Tuesday and the events are scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.

The boys tennis team is in third place in the Colonial League South with a record of 5-6. The Falcons will look to even their record at 6-6 with one more match to play. Salisbury will host Palisades on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
