Lehigh Valley's Varvara Lepchenko Competes Sunday in Olympic Tennis

Varvara Lepchenko, who resided in South Whitehall and now lives in Upper Macungie, is scheduled to play Sunday in the 2012 Olympics Tennis Event.

The is scheduled to play at 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the 2012 Olympic Tennis Event.

Lepchenko is scheduled to play Veronic Cepede Royg of Paraguay.

Butz said Friday's opening ceremony was "AMAZING! Much electricity in the air and goose bumps on the arms!!"

Butz said she wasn't sure she could spot Lepchenko in the crowd. "But just knowing she was there made me proud. She said she had a blast! It was so much fun and she was glad she went."
