Second Mosquito in Salisbury Tests Positive for West Nile Virus

Despite parts of Salisbury Township getting sprayed last week to eradicate mosquito populations, a second mosquito tested positive for West Nile virus.

A second mosquito tested positive for West Nile virus this week in Salisbury Township, according to data released Friday by the state Department of Environmental Protection.

There were a total of 67 new mosquitoes and one human that tested positive for West Nile virus last week, according to the DEP.

around Emmaus Avenue and on Aug. 21 to try to eradicate mosquito populations.

The Centers for Disease Control said this year has been the worst ever for outbreaks of West Nile virus in humans. In August, contracted West Nile virus.

DEP and county West Nile Virus program staff are responding with additional surveillance and control as needed, officials said.
