Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery and March Madness

March Madness does not mean basketball to everybody. If you love wine, food, traveling through beautiful counrtyside and meeting fun people let me tell you about an awesome March Madness.

To many of you March Madness means sitting at home, in front of your television watching basketball. If you are tired of being cooped up in your home because of the cold winter days, let me tell you about a much more fun version of March Madness.

The March Madness I am referring to will have you out and about enjoying friends (old and new) and family along with great local wines and gourmet foods.

The eight wineries on the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail partner together for this annual event and there are only a few passports still available for this month long adventure.

You can purchase a passport, for $35, by ordering them online via EventBrite then start planning your game strategy for spending the first four Saturdays and Sundays traveling the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail to learn about wine and food pairings.  As you arrive at each of the eight wineries you will be offered a premium wine that will be paired with a delicious food.  Your passport will be stamped during each visit and after you visit all eight wineries we will collect the first page of your passport to enter you into a drawing for additional prizes.  In addition each passport holder will also receive a Lehigh Valley Wine Trail gift which this year is a picnic wine tote.  For the fourth year Clover Hill Winery welcomes Chef Nathan Grube back to March Madness.

Clover Hill with Chef Nathan in the kitchen will be offering you:

~Week 1 & 2 (March 2, 3, 9 &10)
Turtle Rock Red or Concord paired with Spicy Chili
Limited Release Chocolate Cabernet paired with Pat’s Famous Double Layer Cheesecake

~Week 3 & 4 (March 16, 17, 23 & 24)
2009 Chardonnay or Cayuga White paired with Chicken Pot Pie with Homemade Noodles
Vignoles paired with Apple Dumplings

If you choose not to buy the passport but still would like to take part in the wine and food pairing you can visit Clover Hill and for just $6 you can take part in our special pairing of the weekend.  As always Clover Hill does offer complimentary samples in the tasting room.

To enjoy your visits and get the most enjoyment from your experience I recommend you plan on visiting no more than three wineries a day.   It’s always fun to also plan a stop at a local restaurant along the way from winery to winery since we have so many great options. And always be sure to have a designated driver when you explore the Wine Trail.  Groups of 12 or more are by appointment only. For full event details of all the winery offerings be sure to visit www.lehighvalleywinetrail.com.

A Toast:  To a March Madness filled with fun, food, locally produced premium wines and the start of Spring!  CHEERS!!
