Community Day: Eastern Salisbury Fire Co. Opens its Doors Saturday

Take a tour and climb a fire truck.

Eastern Salisbury Fire Company, Station 20, is hosting a Community Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and the public is invited, according to an event posting.

Planned at the firehouse, at 1000 E. Emmaus Ave., are activities for kids and craft vendors for adults. The township fire safety house will be set up to help educate residents about what to do in an emergency.

Judge, the arson dog, also will be on hand.

Information also will be available to those interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter or fire police officer.

The Eastern Salisbury Fire Department is a volunteer force established in 1988 when the River Road Fire Co. and Salisbury Fire Co. No. 1 were combined.

The fire house was built in 1991.

The company owns pumper trucks, a tanker, rescue and brushfire trucks, and other trucks, including a restored 1952 antique fire truck.
