'Ride for Adam' Fundraiser Will Go On [Letter]

Despite setback, the Race for Adam Foundation will hold its Ride for Adam event in Schnecksville to raise money to find a cure for Niemann-Pick Type C disease.

In January, the Race For Adam Foundation (RFA) reported to law enforcement our suspicion that an individual used the foundation’s name to conduct a raffle, but RFA had never received the money. The person in question has since been arrested and the case will go to trial. We extend our thanks to law enforcement and will continue to support them in any way we can.

Lately, rumors have spread about our event, the “Ride for Adam” on Aug. 17 at the Schnecksville Fire Co.  This event will go on and continue to raise awareness and funds for research.  We wish to reassure our community that RFA is a legitimate foundation that has donated thousands of dollars through annual fundraisers and the money goes directly to the researchers who are working to find a cure for Niemann-Pick Type C disease. The foundation is real, the researchers are real, the families are real and this fatal genetic disorder is devastatingly real.

While this incident could crush our spirits, we have only to look at Adam’s smile to know that we must preserve in our mission to race against time to find a cure.

We thank you for your outpouring of love and support and look forward to seeing you at the Ride for Adam.

Sincerely,

Matthew Tobias
