This Week: Town Hall Meeting, Middle School Dance and a Book Launch

The Swain School hosts its Back-To-School night Thursday, the Salisbury Board of Education meets on Wednesday and open gyms for basketball and wrestling are set for Wednesday.

Another new work and school week is about to begin, so here's what you need to know this week in and around Salisbury Township:

  • State Rep. Justin Simmons of the 131st Legislative District will hold a Town Hall meeting Thursday at the Salisbury Township municipal building, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to listen to concerns from local residents. The municipal building is located at 2900 South Pike Ave. in Allentown.
  • A Book Launch and Poetry Reading party for Barbara Crooker's new book "Gold," will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Allentown Public Library, located at 1210 Hamilton Street in Allentown.
  • The Swain School, located on S. 24th Street in Salisbury Township, will host its annual Back-to-School Night Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • The Salisbury Township Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the school district administration building, located at 1140 Salisbury Road in Allentown.
  • Salisbury Middle School will host a sixth through eighth-grade dance Friday night at 7 p.m.
  • The Salisbury High School girls soccer team will hold two evening games this week; Monday at 6:30 against Bangor and Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Palmerton.
  • An Open Gym for boys basketball will be held at Salisbury High School at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Open gym for wrestling takes place Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the administration building wrestling room.  
  • Girl Scout Daisy Troop 6106 will meet Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. at Harry S. Truman School.
