Community Day, 'Seussical,' Top Salisbury Weekend Events
The weekend's activities include a free movie for the kids, a minor league football playoff game at Salisbury High School and a clothing drive held by the high school cheerleaders.
The weekend weather forecast, according to the National Weather Service, is expected to feature cloudy skies both Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures between 77 and 81 degrees. Not perfect weather, but it will likely be fair enough not to ruin any outdoor plans you have.
Here's what's going on this weekend in and around Salisbury Township:
- Eastern Salisbury Fire Company, Station 20, is hosting a Community Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and the public is invited. Planned at the firehouse, at 1000 E. Emmaus Ave., are activities for kids and craft vendors for adults. The township fire safety house will be set up to help educate residents about what to do in an emergency. Judge, the arson dog, also will be on hand. Information also will be available to those interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter or fire police officer.
- The St. Thomas More Church Summer Theatre players production of "Seussical," starts its four-day run tonight at 7:30 p.m. to benefit Mary's Shelter: The Cay Galgon Center. The musical will be presented Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at school gym at 1040 Flexer Ave in Salisbury Township. Click here for ticket information.
- A free showing of the movie "Toy Story 3," will be held Friday night at 8 p.m. at Grace Horizon Church, located at 2613 W. South Street in Allentown. Bring your own chairs or blankets. Snacks and beverages will be for sale with proceeds benefitting the Touch a Life Foundation, which aids orphans in Ghana.
- The Lehigh Valley Storm minor league football team will host a playoff game at Salisbury High School Saturday night at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and those 17 and younger are admitted for $5.
- The Salisbury Cheerleaders are holding a clothing drive at Salisbury High School from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Please drop all items off at the Salisbury High School Old gym entrance anytime during these two collection times. Please place all items in tightly tied plastic bags. All items can be bagged together except for shoes.
- There's plenty of entertainment at the Molten Lounge at Sands Bethlehem this weekend. On Friday, the Craig Thatcher Band plays at 9:30 p.m. On Saturday, it's Emily's Toybox at 9:30 p.m. On Sunday, Large Flowerheads entertain starting at 8 p.m.
- The Lehigh Valley Mall is hosting a special back-to-school event Saturday at 11 a.m. The event is free. Click here for more information.
- The Burnside Plantation, 1461 Schoenersville Road, Bethlehem on Saturday at 10 a.m. as children and their families are invited to engage in hands-on activities that will explore the science in our own backyard. Admission for adults is $7. Children are free.
- Valley Vivaldi IV, a summer concert featuring Baroque chamber music performed by principal instrumentalists of the Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra will be held Sunday at Wesley Church, 2540 Center Street, Bethlehem. Click here for ticket information.
- Lady's Day Out, a Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser, will be held Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 75 E. Market Street in Bethlehem. Click here for more information.
