Your Weekend: Salisbury Football Home Opener and Free Library Movie

The craft and collectibles show continues at The South Mall, the nearby Lehigh Valley Zoo remains open, the Allentown Arrt Museum is free on Sunday and a fall festival takes place in nearby Breinigsville. Plus, youth and high school games abound.

This weekend is expected to feature fall-like conditions, according to the National Weather Service forecast,with sunny skies and temperatures in the high 70s. So get out there and enjoy!

Here's what's going on in and around Salisbury Township this weekend:

  • The Salisbury High School football team, fresh off an opening week win over Bangor, holds its home opener Friday night hosting Northwestern Lehigh in a Colonial League game. Kickoff is 7 p.m. 
  • Salisbury High School girls varsity tennis is in action Saturday against William Allen at 11 a.m. at Lindberg Park. The boys varsity soccer team hosts Pen Argyl at the high school at 10 a.m.
  • Salisbury Youth Association Baseball games get an early start Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at Western Elementary School.
  • Dorney Park in South Whitehall is hosting Guest Appreciation Day on Sunday. All thrill rides available for $20. (The park is closed Saturday for a private event.)
  • The Allentown Public Library will hold its free monthly film series at the library, located at 1210 W. Hamilton Street in Allentown, on Saturday at 2 p.m. The series features award-winning foreign films, independent movies, and documentaries. No ticket is required and admission is always free. For viewing audiences ages 17 and over.
  • The South Mall is holding a craft and collectibles show which runs through Sunday. Browse through a variety of handmade crafts and gifts created by local artisans.
  • PBS39 Family Fun Day on Saturday features station tours, storytelling, Elmo scavenger hunt, moon bounces, and an interactive family concert by the Grammy Award-winning Steve Pullara and His Cool Beans Band at noon. All activities, including the concert, are free and open to the public. Activities start at 10 a.m. The location is 830 East First Street in Bethlehem.
  • The Catherine Boulay Foundation will hold a Pancake Breakfast at Applebee's Trexlertown Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 am. Adults are $7 and kids are $4. Great food and raffle items will be available. The Catherine Boulay Foundation is a registered charity which supports cancer patients, families and caregivers on the journey though cancer. A portion of the funds raised will be donated to the Praeger Fund of the Lehigh valley Hospital and the Wellness Community of the Lehigh Valley.
  • Learn the techniques of marbleizing Saturday at the Spring House in the Colonial Industrial Quarter of Historic Downtown Bethlehem.
  • Grim's Greenhouse, located at 9941 Schantz Road in Breinigsville, kicks off its Fall Festival Saturday. Attractions include a new corn maze, apple picking, pumpkin picking, hay ride tours, a play corral, a hay slide, a tube slide, and later in the season, flashlight Maze Nights. Most attractions runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Maze admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children 3 through 12. There are also many homegrown farm market items and sweet treats to choose from.   • Everybody loves free. The nearby Allentown Art Museum is free to all on Sunday. Hours are noon to 4 p.m.
