Obituary: Amy S. Sullivan

Amy S. Sullivan, 46, died suddenly on April 16, 2012.

Amy Susan Sullivan (nee Pettersen), of Fogelsville, PA passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at her residence on Monday, April 16, 2012. Born in Everett, WA on August 28, 1965, Amy was the fifth child of Peter A. & Marilyn A. Pettersen. Her formative years in the Pacific Northwest were spent playing sports of all kinds.  She even tried to crack the little league barrier to allow girls to play baseball because she could outplay all the boys! Amy graduated from Everett High School in 1983 where she excelled in athletics and academics. She was a multi-sport All State Athlete focusing on volleyball and basketball. GOP, Friends React to Snelling Deaths

Friends and associates were stunned to learn Charles D. Snelling had killed his wife then himself Thursday at their home.

Friends and associates of Republican political activist and entrepreneur Charles D. Snelling were shocked at Thursday’s news that he had killed his wife, Adrienne, and then himself to end their struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, with which Mrs. Snelling had suffered for six years. Here is what they said: * Dean Browning, a Lehigh County Republican committeeman and former chair of the Lehigh County Commissioners, has known Snelling for about 10 years as a friend, mentor and confidante. He said Snelling had phoned him on Wednesday, saying in a message left on his work phone that he was referring a customer to New World Aviation, where Browning is chief financial officer.  Browning didn't get a chance to call him back, but said, "He sounded …

In Memoriam: Jeff Buss, Salisbury High Grad

Memorial service for Jeff Buss, a Salisbury High School class of '65, will be held March 31 at Calvary Temple in South Whitehall.

When Jeff Buss, 64, of Catasauqua died suddenly of a heart attack on March 4, the world lost a true Renaissance man. Artist, scientist, amateur astronomer, naturalist, beekeeper and skydiver, Jeff was considered a creative genius by those who knew him.  Jeff was a member of the first graduating class from Salisbury High School in 1965. He was described as a mad scientist in his yearbook. Jeff studied electrical engineering at Indiana University until he was drafted in 1968. Jeff served in the 101st Airborne Division from 1968-1969 in Vietnam, where he was wounded and earned a Purple Heart for his service. Jeff started skydiving after he returned from Vietnam and became an instructor. He was a member of the Lehigh Valley Parachute Team and …

Obituary: Dorothy Eileen Earl Lorentz

Dorothy Eileen Earl Lorentz, 66, of Elkton, Md., died Dec. 7.

Dorothy Eileen Earl Lorentz, 66, peacefully passed away at home on Dec 7, 2011 in Elkton, Md. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Dorothy Eileen and the late Harry Edward Earl in Brooklyn, N.Y. on April 26, 1945. She grew up in Glen Rock, N.J. and was married to Frederick Charles Lorentz in Harmony, N.J. Dorothy worked with Children and Youth for many years for the State of New Jersey and retired from New Jersey Department of Youth Services. Dorothy loved growing flowers and exotic plants, feeding her variety of pond fish and caring for wildlife. Hummingbirds made her smile from the inside out, birdhouses and habitats for the local wildife made her content and fulfilled. Listening to classical tunes and ballads from today tickled her heart …

Emily Michelle Shoemaker, a 2011 Salisbury High School graduate, died Nov. 24.

Emily Michelle Shoemaker, 18, of Allentown, died Thursday, Nov. 24. at her home surrounded by her family and friends.  Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Ricky R. and Cynthia G. (Reiss) Shoemaker.  She was 2011 graduate of Salisbury High School and a member of Faith Evangelical Free Church in Lower Macungie Township where she was an avid member of the High School Youth Group. She had worked for the past year at the Chick-Fil-A in Trexlertown.  One of her favorite pastimes was crocheting, especially afghans, for family and friends. Bruce Uhl of Salisbury Alumni Association Died Saturday

Uhl, 57, had a lifelong commitment to Salisbury School District.

Bruce H. Uhl, 57, of  Allentown, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township, after being stricken at home. He was the loving husband of Melinda L. (Rex) Uhl. The couple celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary last June 25. Born in Allentown, June 5, 1954, Bruce was the son of the late Henry G. and Arlene A. (Miller) Uhl. Bruce was a graduate of Salisbury High School, Class of 1972, where he was class president and lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University in 1976 and continued to support the university in many fundraising endeavors. Services Announced For Jaindl Family Member Killed in Car Crash

James Leuthe, 69, died Tuesday, March 29.

James L. Leuthe, 69, of Allentown, died Tuesday evening, March 29, 2011, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Catherine Jaindl-Leuthe. The couple celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary this past January 19. Born in Scranton, March 2, 1942, Jim was the son of Dolores (Merkel) Leuthe Bray of Collegeville, formerly of Mill City, and the late George J.
