The district's budget reflects total expenditures in the amount of $31,398,872, requiring a real estate tax levy of 16.8708 mills. Directors could have elected to take the maximum 2.99 percent tax increase. Salisbury Township School District Business Administrator Robert Bruchak said a $740,000 budget gap was whittled down to $182,838. Lehigh Carbon Community College President Donald Snyder told the board of trustees Thursday he will extend his medical leave to undergo open heart surgery next Wednesday. Snyder, 61, said he expected to return to work in mid-July. Ann Bieber, senior vice president for administrative services, will serve as acting president. Cetronia Elementary School's act of "kindness"—a peace painting created with the thumbprints of its students and staff—has made its way to Newtown Public Schools in Connecticut. Cetronia art teacher Susan Hardy, who spearheaded the project, learned in an email last week that the painting is currently being displayed in the Newtown Public Schools Central Office until a decision is made on the future Sandy Hook Elementary School.
