A baby is dead and his father is in jail as police investigate what happened to the 15-month-old boy.
Allentown police are investigating the case of an infant pronounced dead early Saturday at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Cordero James, of 718 N. 15th Street, was 15 months old. The infant's father, Michael James, 36, has been jailed on multiple charges and was allegedly high on marijuana and fell asleep while he was supposed to be caring for the boy, according to a WFMZ report. Authorities have not yet specified the boy's manner and cause of death. Last year, an Allentown mother was charged in the beating death of her 5-year-old boy.

A train hit a car stuck on railroad tracks near South Mall on Tuesday morning
A woman escaped injury when she was able to get out of her car before it got hit by a train Tuesday morning. She mistakenly drove onto railroad tracks and her car stalled around 6:30 a.m., according to reports by WFMZ and Lehigh Valley Live. She called police, but the train couldn't be alerted in time to stop. The car was pushed down the tracks in the area of 31st Street between Emmaus Avenue and Lehigh Street -- near South Mall. The force of a train hitting a car is comparable to a car hitting a soda can, according to Operation Lifesaver, a rail safety education website. There were more than 2,000 car-train incidents at public and private rail crossings in 2011. Those resulted in 271 deaths and more than 1,000 injuries. Allentown police …

Police are investigating the "suspicious' death of a 5-year-old Allentown boy who died Friday
Police are investigating the death of an Allentown child found unresponsive in his home Thursday night. Cashmiere Hill, 5, of 107 N. 12th St., was not breathing so his mother called 911 about 9 p.m. Thursday. He was pronounced dead at 2:31 a.m. Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital. An autopsy was performed Friday morning but the Lehigh County coroner's office issued a statement saying the boy's cause and manner of death are pending further investigation. The death is being termed "suspicious." The coroner's office and Allentown police are investigating, with assistance from the Lehigh County district attorney.
