How Many Drinks Will Get You A DUI? (With Chart)

When police pull drivers over for suspected drunken driving, officers ask them to perform field sobriety tests and to take a breath test to measure Blood Alcohol Content. A BAC test measures the percentage of alcohol present in a person's bloodstream. Pennsylvania's legal limit is 0.08. According to the Virginia Tech Alcohol Abuse Prevention website, every 40 minutes, 0.01 percent of alcohol leaves your system.  Check out the chart in the media portion of this article to see what your limit is. Joe Brennan Will Continue to Get State Paycheck

Embattled state Rep. Joe Brennan, who ends his tenure today, will continue to collect Pennsylvania state salary and benefits as a research analyst for Democratic Party Caucus.

  Beleaguered state Rep. Joe Brennan finishes up his tenure as a legislator today amid pending charges that he assaulted his wife and drove away drunk on an August afternoon. But he’ll spend no time on the unemployment line. In fact, Capitolwire.com reported Thursday, Brennan will continue to collect a paycheck from the state of Pennsylvania as an employee of the House Democratic Caucus. Brennan will start a new job as a research analyst in the caucus’ Legislative Policy and Research Office on Monday. The salary is $72,000 a year – about $10,000 less than what he makes as a legislator – and he will continue to receive the same health benefits for which members and staff are eligible, Capitolwire reported. State Rep. Joe Brennan Won't Seek Re-Election

Three-term Democratic legislator announces today that he will petition Commonwealth Court to have his name removed from November ballot; will remain in office through Nov. 30.

  State Rep. Joseph Brennan announced today that he has submitted a request to have his name removed from the November general election ballot. The Democratic legislator had been seeking his fourth term as representative from the 133rd District. Brennan was arrested last Wednesday and charged with simple assault and drunken driving after he allegedly choked and punched his wife, Norma Jane, on the porch of their Fountain Hill home and then drove away drunk. Brennan, 48, of 1201 Delaware Ave., is free on $7,500 bail and awaiting a preliminary hearing. Additionally, a court hearing on a Protection From Abuse order request on the legislator is scheduled for Thursday in Lehigh County Court. Norma Jane Brennan, who had filed for divorce in June…

How many yrs ago was that? And did he pay his fine, ect. How about some forgiveness. If he has gotten his life together then he might be a better rep for the experience. Or do you suggest that no recovering Alcoholics should be allowed to run for office? This guy, on the other hand, is obviously in the middle of a personal and marital crisis and should step down in order to deal with it.   more ›

Joe Brennan's wife receives court protection-from-abuse order the day after legislator allegedly assaulted her and then drove away drunk.

  The wife of state Rep. Joseph Brennan, who had already filed for divorce in June, on Thursday was granted a temporary protection-from-abuse order barring the legislator from contact with her or their two sons, according to The Morning Call. Brennan was arrested on Wednesday and charged with simple assault and drunken driving after he allegedly choked and punched Norma Jane Brennan on the porch of their Fountain Hill home and then drove away drunk. Brennan, 48, of 1201 Delaware Ave., is free on $7,500 bail. In her request for a PFA order, Mrs. Brennan's description of events echoed one of two arrest affidavits filed against the three-term legislator the previous day, according to the newspaper's report. Take PennDOT's Safety Survey

PennDOT wants your input on highway safety

PennDOT is asking Pennsylvania motorists to help the department monitor its highway safety efforts by sharing their opinions on traffic safety enforcement and driving behaviors through an online survey available through July 27 at www.JustDrivePA.com. The 22-question survey focuses on highway safety issues, including seat belts, impaired driving, speeding, motorcycles and distracted driving. People completing the survey may remain anonymous, but are asked to provide their gender, age and ZIP code. More than 3,500 people responded to last year’s survey.
