Police Swarm Emmaus Bank But It Was a False Alarm

Police closed intersections and surrounded Sovereign Bank in Emmaus Friday but it was apparently a false alarm.

State and local police with guns drawn surrounded Sovereign Bank at 1215 Chestnut St. in Emmaus around 1 p.m. Friday. Customers at the East Penn Plaza strip mall next to the bank say they saw police shut down all four intersections there and draw weapons outside the bank until a bank employee motioned to them, apparently indicating that everything was OK. Police then left the scene and activity at the bank returned to normal. There's no indication yet as to what prompted the response. The same Sovereign Bank was robbed at least twice in recent years. Police dogs and a state police helicopter were deployed for a manhunt after a July 2011 robbery. The bank was robbed previously on July 2, 2010.

I bet if someone was sticking a gun in your face the Police couldn't get there fast enough to satisfy you and you would voice your complaint on this site.   more ›

First Niagara Reported Robbed - Again

Police respond to report of 11 a.m. armed robbery at First Niagara Bank

Emmaus and Salisbury Township police responded to an 11 a.m. report of an armed gunman robbing First Niagara Bank at 502 State/Lehigh Street. Initial reports describe the robber as a black man wearing a mask and goggles and carrying a hand gun. A robbery at the same First Niagara branch was reported back in October 2011. A nearby branch of First Niagara was robbed in July 2010. Patch will post more details as soon as they become available.

probably hit that bank because its kinda slow around there and it seemed like easy pickings. I see a trend of things like this since the influx of out of staters moving here and trashing everything ther are a few that really care but for the most part alot of riff raf moved into our area and brought there trash with them>   more ›
