Thousands Honor Slain Police Officer

Police, fire and emergency personnel filled Northampton Community College's Spartan Hall for a public service honoring Freemansburg Police Officer Robert Lasso, killed in the line of duty

Thousands of people, including hundreds of police officers from the Lehigh Valley and beyond, came to the Spartan Center at Northampton Community College to honor Freemansburg Police Officer Robert Lasso. Lasso was shot and killed responding to a call about a disturbance in Freemansburg on Thursday. Departments from as far away as Virginia, Harrisburg and New York were among those represented at the public service, according to a report on The Express-Times website. Lasso was eulogized by Borough Police Chief George Bruneio and the Rev. Richard L. Teitsworth of First UCC of Hellertown. Bruneio described Lasso as a good family man and father who had an infectious smile. Teitsworth said the words “protect and serve” truly represent Lasso’s …

Funeral for Officer Robert Lasso Set for Tuesday

A public memorial service for Freemansburg Police Officer Robert Lasso will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Northampton Community College.

A public memorial service for Freemansburg Police Officer Robert Lasso, who was shot and killed Aug. 11, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Spartan Center at Northampton Community College, according to WFMZ. Lasso was married with two children. The private funeral will be held Tuesday morning in Bethlehem for family and friends. Then the funeral procession will travel from Linden Street in Bethlehem, down Market and Cambria streets, past the Freemansburg Police Department, down Freemansburg Avenue, Willow Park Road, Hecktown Road and to the college. If I could attend the procession, I would. I'll make a donation in honor of his family. Such a senseless act has taken an honorable life, impacting his family and the community, as well as law enforcement everywhere. Officer Lasso will always be remembered. RIP.   more ›
