Patch has 24 finalists including two from eastern Pennsylvania in its Deck the House holiday lights contest

We had more than 400 national entries in this year’s Deck the House contest  and we love showcasing everyone’s holiday spirit. Visit this page to browse a gallery of the finalists and cast your vote. The 24 national finalists include two eastern Pennsylvania homes - one in Hatboro-Horsham Patch and one in Upper Moreland-Willow Grove Patch. On Dec. 29, we’ll announce the grand prize winner of our Deck the House contest. So now’s your chance to tell us who has the best “decked” house in the country. The champion will win $100,000 for their local school district.

As you decorate your home with lights this holiday season, it's important to follow important safety tips.

As you decorate your home with lights this holiday season, it's important to follow important safety tips. Holiday lights using light emitting diodes (LEDs) use 90 percent less energy than traditional bulbs, according to NSTAR, a utility company. Today's LED lights are much more durable and can last years longer. For example, operating 10 strings of mini-LED lights compared to 10 strings of standard mini-lights can save nearly $12 in energy costs in one month.

A Lehigh Valley home is one of 24 national finalists in the Patch "Deck the House" contest. Wayne and Alayne Renninger have been decorating their house for Christmas in a big way for more than 30 years. If one inflatable Santa is good, 10 are better. They're house broadcasts "Merry Christmas" in large white lights. Seeing their house on South Fairview Road in Salisbury Township all decked out in lights and hearing the appreciative comments from passersby was always its own reward. But that changed Friday when the Renningers found out their house was selected to be among two dozen finalists out of hundreds of entries in Patch's national Deck the House Contest. Salisbury Home's Holiday Lights Stop Traffic

Motorists traveling west at night on I-78 near the Summit Lawn exit in Salisbury Township are often surprised this time of year as they cast a glance skyward. Just off the highway, a twinkling Santa and his reindeer can be seen flying through the night sky. Not far off the exit they'll see the line of cars that inch along like a slow-moving train past the dazzling Christmas lights display at George and Pat Saunders' home at 2303 Woodland Drive in Salisbury Township. For six years, the Saunders have gone above and beyond to offer the glorious lights display at their home. “There are nights that we have to wait a little bit to get into our driveway,” Pat Saunders said.
