A district judge ruled Friday there is enough evidence to send Kimberly Cardona's alleged killer's case to Lehigh County Court.

The preliminary hearing for accused killer Jonathan Nunez of Allentown scheduled for Sept. 6 was postponed, according to Lehigh County Court officials. A new court date has not been set, officials said. Nunez, 20, of 253 E. Fairview St., is charged with homicide for allegedly beating and stabbing to death Kimberly Cardona, 20, of Whitehall and dumping her body July 4 in Salisbury Township. An Allentown man charged with killing 20-year-old Kimberly Cardona, whose body was found July 5 in Salisbury Township, told police he had gotten into an argument with Cardona and cut her neck with a knife, according to an arrest affidavit. Jonathan Nunez, 20, of 253 E. Fairview St. was charged Thursday with homicide and later arraigned before District Judge Jacob Hammond of South Whitehall. The arraignment was brief, about two minutes, and done remotely from Hammond's office. Nunez, who appeared on video camera from Lehigh County Central Booking, said few words, only "yes, sir" when asked if he understood the proceedings. He was dressed in a long-sleeved white shirt and light pants, his hair cut short. Hammond did not set bail in the case…

An Allentown man has been charged with killing 20-year-old Kimberly Cardona, whose body was found July 5 in a wooded area of Salisbury Township. Jonathan Nunez, 20, of 253 E. Fairview St., was charged with homicide Thursday, according to a release from the Lehigh County District Attorney's office. Cardona's body had been found by a man walking his dogs in the evening in the 2700 block of Lanze Lane, Salisbury Township. Nunez was to be arraigned in Lehigh County Central Booking. According to the release, the arrest affidavit states: Cardona, 20, of Whitehall Township had been missing since July 4, according to her family. Salisbury Township Police Chief Allen Stiles said investigators are "making progress" on the homicide case of Kimberly Cardona of Whitehall, whose beaten and stabbed body was found July 5 in a wooded area off Lanze Lane by a neighbor walking his dogs. Stiles could provide no other information. The case is being investigated by Salisbury police, the Lehigh County District Attorney's office and the coroner's office.
