The Pa. Superior Court will hold sessions at Northampton Community College on Tuesday and Wednesday
For the first time in its history, the Pennsylvania Superior Court will be sitting in the Lehigh Valley at an institution of higher education. The special session of argument court will take place on February 26 and 27 beginning at 9 a.m. at Northampton Community College, Kopecek Hall, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem Township. Judges Jack A. Panella, presiding judge; Cheryl Lynn Allen, and William H. Platt will serve on the panel. This court session will provide an unusual opportunity for the public to witness court in action. The session will open with a special tribute to veterans. NCC will offer a free March 7 program on how individuals can protect themselves from cyber security threats
Northampton Community College will host a program on cyber security on Thursday, March 7, at 11 a.m. in Room 220 of the College Center at 3835 Green Pond Road in Bethlehem. The program is part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s national Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign, “Stop.Think.Connect.” It will focus on how individuals and entire communities can protect themselves against growing cyber threats. The session will include remarks from two cyber security experts and will cover both general and technical aspects of cyber security. Linny Fowler died Monday at the age of 73, according to reports.
Philanthropist Linny Fowler died Monday of natural causes, according to a report in The Morning Call. She was 73. UPS heiress Fowler was known locally for giving generously to the arts and to the poor. Several buildings in the Lehigh Valley are named in her honor, including the Fowler Family South Side Center of Northampton Community College in Bethlehem. She also was a major benefactor of ArtsQuest. NCC spokesman Heidi Butler said, "As the news traveled across campus this afternoon, there was shock and sadness, followed by spontaneous sharing of memories, not only of how generous Linny was, but also of how down-to-earth she was and about the personal interest she took in students and the encouragement she gave them. Children in grades 6 through 10 can learn about and experience ice fishing at classes offered by Northampton Community College and taught by professional fisherman and guide Joe Pacholec. The classes will be held on Saturdays, Jan. 12, Jan. 26 and Feb. 9, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. An NCC van will take students from Hartzell Hall at the Main Campus to Lake Wallenpaupack. The instructor will dig the holes and teach safety and tips. The fee is $129. Children should bring lunch and a snack. A hot dog and bottled water will be provided..
