TIBBS Tibbs is a gorgeous kitty who is in need of a loving home. He is up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped and ready for a forever family. LAVENDER Lavender is a beautiful pit bull terrier mix (possibly with lab). She walks well on a leash and knows several basic commands, such as "sit," "down," "stay," "come," "leave it," and well, the list goes on and on... Lavender is the whole package. Just come and see. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots and ready to go!

Suicide by Hammer Ruled in Man's Bizarre Death

A Williams Township man died as a result of self-inflicted hammer blows to his head, officials have determined

Michael Muretta struggled for years with mental illness. His struggle reached a horrific end last August when the 47-year-old Williams Township man struck himself in the head with a hammer, causing fatal injuries. That was the conclusion reached by investigators looking into Muretta's death, Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli said Thursday. At a news conference at his office, Morganelli told reporters that Muretta's history --combined with physical evidence at his home and no evidence of anyone who wished him harm -- will lead the coroner to rule his death a suicide. These adorable pets are awaiting adoption at the Center for Animal Health and Welfare in Williams Township.

Note: January is Adopt A Senior Pet Month at the Center for Animal Health and Welfare. Adoption fees for senior cats and dogs will be waived throughout January. ANGEL Ten-year-old Angel is just that. This sweet girl had a home but her owner passed away and now she is looking for a new home for her golden years. She recently had surgery to remove ear polyps and is doing well. She is just gorgeous. RUBY TUESDAY Ruby Tuesday was abandoned at the Center. A terrier mix, she is friendly, likes to ride in the car and enjoys being petted. She is dominant with other dogs, so we are looking for her to be the only pet in the home. She appears to be housebroken and is spayed. She is ready to go.

JOSELYN Joselyn is a gorgeous young adult gal looking for a forever home. She is up to date on shots, spayed, social, microchipped and ready for a home for the holidays! KING King is a young, red-nosed and handsome little imp. He is quite mischievous and high energy, but he's still a pup who's looking to learn the ropes. A hound/pit bull terrier mix, King is as affectionate as they come. Nothing makes him happier than being around people, and he would love a family of his own to love him. King has the attributes to make him a great companion. Hopefully you will think so too!

MINETTE Minette is a cute little girl that came to the center with her litter-mates. She is friendly, social and eager for a loving home. JAKEY Jakey (pictured at right) had a home but his owner passed away. He is a bit older but calm, loving and in need of a family for his senior years. Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Lehigh Valley

Two to four inches of snow are possible Wednesday into Thursday along with gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the calendar, there are six more weeks of autumn, but somebody apparently forgot to tell Mother Nature. November has barely begun and the Lehigh Valley is already under a winter weather advisory.  On Wednesday morning National Weather Service predicted snow will start after 1 p.m. with a daytime snow accumulation of two to four inches possible. It will be breezy with a north wind 14 to 22 mph with gusts as high as 37 mph. Parkland schools dismissed early Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service, snow and sleet will start before 10 p.m. Wednesday followed by rain and sleet with a low temperature around 32. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is possible. With the snow and wind predicted there may be …

Experiment: How Long Does it Take to Get Voter ID?

Columnist headed to the only Driver's License Center in Lehigh County that issues IDs for voters.

I spent a recent afternoon in an experiment to see how long it might take to get a voter’s photo ID from the PennDOT Driver's License Center off Airport Road. I’ll tell you the results in a minute. It’s an important question because according to Pennsylvania’s Department of State, about 31,000 registered voters in the Lehigh Valley are without a current driver’s license or state issued non-driver ID that will enable them to vote in the Nov. 6 presidential election. Some of those folks have other official photo identification that will be accepted at the polls because they are a government employee, a member of the military, a university student or a nursing home patient or employee.
