Nearly two months after the Salisbury High School varsity football coach Rob Sawicki resigned amid controversy, the district has replaced him with Parkland High School's assistant coach Andy Cerco.
Nearly two months after Salisbury High School's head football coach resigned after some parents complained he demeaned players, the school district announced Wednesday it appointed Andy Cerco, an assistant football coach at Parkland High School Cerco has worked as a special education teacher at Salisbury High School. Salisbury director of student activities and athletics says neither she nor other administrators asked Rob Sawicki to resign.
No Salisbury Township School District administrator put pressure on the varsity football coach to quit, according to Monica Deeb, director of student activities and athletics. Deeb said Tuesday that she met with Rob Sawicki Friday afternoon and he said then he would resign. “He’s been thinking about this for some time, that he wants to do something else,” she said. Sawicki told The Morning Call that he wanted to spend more time with his young children, and that his resignation had nothing to do with parents' complaints to the school board. Sawicki’s resignation came two days after a group of football booster club members complained to the school board that he had demeaned and verbally abused some players and undermined morale. They …

The outgoing Salisbury High head football coach has told The Morning Call, "We prepared the kids to the best of our ability." Rob Sawicki says he needs to spend more time with his young children. His resignation came after parents complained last week that he humiliated players by calling them names. The head of the football booster club told Patch on Monday that he's glad to see Sawicki out. You can tell us what you think by taking our poll and adding your comments. Salisbury High School's Head Football Coach Rob Sawicki has resigned just days after some team parents and booster club members complained to the school board that he demeaned players. After Salisbury Patch ran a story Friday about the complaints, the controversy continued online with comments both for and against Sawicki. Citing personal reasons, he presented his letter of resignation to school officials late Friday afternoon. Under Sawicki, the Falcons compiled a record of 5-36 during his four-years as head coach. Some Salisbury Football Booster Club members complained to school board that football coach verbally abused team and undermined morale, others say coaching lacks leadership.
Some Salisbury Football Booster Club members complained to the Salisbury School Board the Salisbury High School varsity football coach had routinely verbally abused the team and undermined morale. Others said parents and their children were afraid to complain because they feared retribution. Butch Rossetti, president of the booster club, said they have complained about coach Rob Sawicki to the district's athletic director Monica Deeb and other administrators at Salisbury High School, as recently as last week, but were still frustrated. "We want to make sure our voice is heard. Wins and losses are not the only thing that we were concerned with, we were concerned with treatment," Rossetti said. "Coaches are mentors to our boys and the …
