Does Salisbury High School Need a New Sign?

The Salisbury School Board says the old blue and white sign outside the high school is due for a makeover or needs to be replaced.

Some members of the Salisbury School Board say Salisbury High School's old blue and white sign on East Emmaus Avenue should be replaced or get a makeover. Board President Russell Giordano said he passes the sign every day and is reminded "we have this beautiful new high school and we're still looking at that sign." Giordano told the board at its operations meeting last week that since the district still has money left in the construction budget, "shouldn't we do something about that sign?" When the board considered replacing the worn sign last year it discussed the possibility of getting Lehigh Career & Technical Institute students to do some of the work and use their bricklaying skills. Salisbury Baseball Stumbles in D11 Final

Salisbury Falcons fall to Pine Grove in conclusion of suspended District 11 2A championship baseball game.

The Salisbury High School baseball team resumed its quest for a second straight District 11 2A championship title Thursday afternoon against Pine Grove Area High School at Coca-Cola Park. They were there to finish the contest that was interrupted on Tuesday evening by passing thunderstorms. The game resumed where it left off: tied 6-6 with two outs in the top of 7th inning. Falcon pitcher Justin Aungst put two runners on with walks. It looked like he might get out of the jam when Salisbury second baseman Evan Kulig made a diving stop of a grounder hit to his left. Salisbury Falls to Shenandoah Valley in Semifinal

The Salisbury High School boys basketball team twice tied the score in the final minutes against Shenandoah Valley, but lost 53-48.

After falling behind early, the Salisbury High School boys basketball team fought back in the second half of Wednesday's District 11 2A semifinal game against Shenandoah Valley, twice tying the score in the final minutes, only to fall 53-48.

Andy Cerco Named Salisbury Varsity Football Coach

Nearly two months after the Salisbury High School varsity football coach Rob Sawicki resigned amid controversy, the district has replaced him with Parkland High School's assistant coach Andy Cerco.

Nearly two months after Salisbury High School's head football coach resigned after some parents complained he demeaned players, the school district announced Wednesday it appointed Andy Cerco, an assistant football coach at Parkland High School Cerco has worked as a special education teacher at Salisbury High School. Cerco, who was introduced to the school board at its Jan. 19 meeting, said he would meet with the players on Friday and parents sometime next week. Cerco joins the football program after a bitter and fractious time last fall when parents and booster club members complained to the school board about then head football coach Rob Sawicki. Salisbury Baseball Team Honored For State Championship Runner-up Finish

Salisbury High School unveiled a banner Thursday night in the gym that pays tribute to the baseball team for its runner-up finish in the PIAA 2A state baseball championship last spring.

Salisbury High School unveiled a banner in the gym Thursday night that pays tribute to the baseball team for finishing second in the 2A state baseball championship last spring. The baseball team was the first team in Salisbury's history to play in a state championship. The tribute was made between the boys' junior varsity and varsity basketball games.

Betty, the dinner was hosted by the Salisbury Band and Cheerleaders as well as the football boosters. Money raised by the participating students went back to those programs and students to help defray costs. The purpose was to help promote spirit thruout the district.   more ›

Salisbury Baseball Beats Danville 3-1, Advances to Finals

Falcons (20-6 overall) advance to Class 2A state finals at Penn State on Friday.

The Salisbury High School varsity baseball team beat Danville 3-1 in the PIAA Class 2A semifinals in Pine Grove on Monday, according to the Morning Call. The Falcons advance to the state finals on Friday where they play District 7 champion Riverside at Penn State's Medlar Field.

Salisbury Spring Sports Update

A look at Salisbury Falcons more than midway through the spring sports season.

The Salisbury High School spring sports season is more then half over. Here is a look at how the Falcons are doing in their respective sports. The Salisbury baseball team has been playing well this season. The Falcons sit at 7-3 overall and 5-3 in the Colonial League South, which is good for first place in the league. Salisbury started the season 4-0, and has won two of their last three to continue its success. As a team, the Falcons are batting .295 and have an on base percentage of .402. Six batters are hitting over .300. Brad Vangeli leads the team with a .400 batting average, while notching nine RBIs and eight runs. Nicholas Ampietro is batting .393 with 14 runs scored and four RBIs. Zachary Harper leads the team with 14 RBIs and is …
