Salisbury Police report another burglary and an attempted burglary; residents urged to watch for suspicious activity.
Police reported a burglary and an attempted burglary Wednesday. Two men distracted a woman at her Ritter Street home while a third person went inside and stole items and cash, according to a post on the Salisbury Township Police Facebook page. An attempted burglary on East Emmaus Avenue was interrupted by a neighbor. Police said three people were trying to force their way into a home. Police ask residents to stay alert for suspicious activity and call 911 or 610-437-5252. There's been a rash of burglaries in the township—14 during a 30-day period in March and April. Police arrested three people late Monday and charged them with burglary.

Salisbury police are seeking the public's help in identifying two women in a debit card fraud investigation, according to a posting on the Salisbury Police Facebook page. More than $2,000 in fraudulent purchases were made with a stolen debit card in early February, police said. Anyone with information on the identities of the women shown in the photos released by police is asked to contact the Salisbury Police Department at 410-548-3165 or Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776. Emergency crews and PPL were on the scene of an accident on Emmaus Avenue near Chapel Avenue on Thursday morning
Salisbury police say E. Emmaus Avenue has re-opened following an accident Thursday morning. The accident, near Chapel Avenue, had closed the roadway for hours. A pole was down, and police and PPL crews were on the scene. Additional information was not immediately available. Check back with Patch for updates.

The identity of the woman whose body was found burning last month in Salisbury Township was confirmed today through DNA testing, according to Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim. She is Jennifer Velez-Negron, 26, of Reading, Grim said. Investigators received clues after they released a detailed description of the body a day after it was found burning on Dec. 27 in a wooded residential area behind the Unami Fish and Game Association, 75 Chestnut Hill Road. Velez-Negron, who died from suffocation and thermal injuries, was burned beyond recognition but some distinguishing characteristics were discovered during the autopsy. Salisbury Township police officers conducted a checkpoint Thursday morning on Chestnut Hill Road in an effort to glean more information about the identity of a woman who was suffocated and burned there last week and who may have killed her. Beginning at 9 a.m., Salisbury police stopped and spoke to motorists on the remote road in a wooded residential section on South Mountain near the Unami Fish and Game Association.
