Salisbury Township Police Chief Alan Stiles said investigators are continuing to receive information from the public about who might have killed Jennifer Valez-Negron two days after Christmas and set her body on fire. "We are working toward a successful resolution," Stiles said. And, he added, "it's going to be a very interesting resolution." Jennifer Velez-Negron was living with a friend in Salisbury Township shortly before her burning body was found two days after Christmas on a wooded residential road in the township, according to WFMZ. Velez-Negron, 26, formerly of Reading, had recently lost her job and was stressed about providing for her three children, her younger sister Yesenia Velez told WFMZ. Salisbury police discovered Velez-Negron's body after a passing motorist reported a small fire on the side of Chestnut Hill Road the morning of Dec. 27. The identity of the woman whose body was found burning last month in Salisbury Township was confirmed today through DNA testing, according to Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim. She is Jennifer Velez-Negron, 26, of Reading, Grim said. Investigators received clues after they released a detailed description of the body a day after it was found burning on Dec. 27 in a wooded residential area behind the Unami Fish and Game Association, 75 Chestnut Hill Road. Velez-Negron, who died from suffocation and thermal injuries, was burned beyond recognition but some distinguishing characteristics were discovered during the autopsy. The identity of Jane Doe, the woman found suffocated and burned to death Dec. 27 on a wooded residential road in Salisbury Township, could soon be confirmed, according to Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim. The Salisbury Township Police Chief vows to follow every lead to find the person who killed an unknown woman found suffocated and burned Dec. 27 on Chestnut Hill Road.
Salisbury Township Police Chief Allen Stiles vowed the department will find the killer after an exhausting day combing through evidence where a woman's body was found burning on a frigid morning last week. The victim -- as yet unidentified -- was discovered along a remote wooded road on South Mountain by a passing motorist. Police are investigating a body found burned at the Unami Gun Club in Salisbury Township.
A body found burning near Unami Fish and Game Club off Chestnut Hill Road in Salisbury Township Thursday morning was a white or light-skinned Hispanic woman age 20 to 40, according to the Lehigh County coroner. An autopsy will be performed Friday to determine the exact cause of death. The woman's identity will be revealed once investigators know for sure who she was and notify her next of kin. Emergency responders were called to the scene around 9:30 a.m. when a resident driving on Chestnut Hill Road saw something burning near the Unami Fish and Game Club in Salisbury Township not far from the Emmaus border.
