The identity of Jane Doe, the woman found suffocated and burned to death Dec. 27 on a wooded residential road in Salisbury Township, could be confirmed later this week, according to Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim. Grim said his office is waiting to get DNA results, which could be later this week or next. The coroner's office released the following description of the woman: She may have been wearing: Police continue to request any information from the public that might help them in the investigation, "no matter how insignificant it might seem," they said. Salisbury Township police officers conducted a checkpoint Thursday morning on Chestnut Hill Road in an effort to glean more information about the identity of a woman who was suffocated and burned there last week and who may have killed her. Beginning at 9 a.m., Salisbury police stopped and spoke to motorists on the remote road in a wooded residential section on South Mountain near the Unami Fish and Game Association. Police discovered the woman's burning body after a passing motorist reported something was on fire around 9:30 a.m. Dec. 27 on Chestnut Hill Road. After an exhausting day combing through evidence where a woman's body was found burning on a frigid morning last week on a remote wooded road on South Mountain by a passing motorist, Salisbury Township Police Chief Allen Stiles vowed the department will find the killer. "We will follow every lead we can to find out who committed this crime," Stiles told the Salisbury Board of Commissioners last week. The woman, whom investigators refer to as Jane Doe because her identity is unknown, died from suffocation and burns on Dec. 27, according to the Lehigh County coroner.
