Enrollment Up In Salisbury School Music Programs

High school band numbers up dramatically, other programs have significant increases.

Salisbury Township School District’s music programs have been on life support for the past few years, with extremely low enrollment numbers for band, chorus and music classes, but now the programs have come back from the brink of death. School officials gave the school directors encouraging news Monday: enrollment numbers for district music programs have gone up across the board. Enrollment in the high school band jumped from only eight students this year to 24 students for the 2011-12 school year, said Salisbury High School Assistant Principal Bill Dovico. It's nice to see the music students getting the recognition they deserve. I hope to see all of the Salisbury community at the Middle School Concert on Monday, May 2nd (7 p.m.) where they can enjoy the performances of the above mentioned ensembles, the unmentioned 40 person Freshman chorus, and the 113 person combined (Freshman and Middle School) chorus which includes 6 faculty singers.   more ›
