Swain Student Wins Speedskating Championship
Speedskating champion Rachel Yoder, 12, is a sixth-grader at The Swain School.
Swain School sixth-grader Rachel Yoder took up the sport of speedskating little more than a year ago and has already earned some impressive wins. Competing earlier this month in Hartford, Conn., Yoder took first place in the novice division for her age group in the Mid-Atlantic Short Track Speedskating Championships. “I was really surprised because it was my first race ever,” says Rachel, 12. “I never thought I’d get the champion of the novice division. It was a happy day.” Rachel placed first in four of her races at the championships. In two more races, she came in second and fourth, even after tripping. Swain To Hold 42nd Annual Holiday House Tour
Swain Holiday House Tour participants can eat lunch or supper at the school and take the self-guided tour or ride in style to distinctive local homes decorated for the festive season.
The Swain School in Salisbury Township presents its 42nd annual Holiday House Tour of beautiful local homes on Tuesday, Dec. 6 and Wednesday, Dec. 7. Participants can enjoy the tour via a bus or luxury coach, or a self-guided, "drive it yourself" option. The Holiday House Tour also includes the Swain Holiday Boutique as well as a Pick-a-Prize Raffe, Children’s Raffle, and Bake Sale & Sweet Shoppe. The Snowflake Express features a light supper beginning at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the school. Buses depart at 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m for the tour. The cost of tickets for the Snowflake Express is $45.
