Dogs Banned from Salisbury Parks

Dogs and other domestic animals will not be allowed in most Salisbury Township parks.

The Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners have banned dogs from all but two township parks.

Commissioners, in a release, say that dogs and other domestic animals are banned from all township parks, except for Franko Farm and Walking Purchase Park. However, at those locations, all dogs must be leashed.

The only exceptions to the new policy are:

  • Dogs providing assistance to vision-impaired or otherwise physically disabled individuals who require the aid or assistance of a trained dog.
  • Animals used in or participating in a township-sponsored/authorized recreation program.
Commissioners point out that violators of the ordinance are guilty of a summary offense and subject to fines up to $300 plus court costs, or up to 90 days in jail.

The township will be placing "No Dogs Allowed Signs," throughout the affected parks in coming weeks. After that, the Salisbury Township Police Department will begin strict enforcement of the ordinance.
