Salisbury Doctor Charged in Carbon County Drug Ring

Online court records state Dr. John R. Manzella of Salisbury was charged with 99 counts of alleged drug fraud regarding oxycodone prescriptions.

Dr. John R. Manzella was charged with 99 counts of writing fraudulent Oxycodone prescriptions in Carbon County on July 23, according to online court records.

Manzella, of Lehigh Parkway North, also faces similar charges in New Jersey.

Manzella, 48, was charged in Sussex County, N.J court in June with conspiracy to commit unlawful practice of medicine and conspiracy to commit forgery.

Manzella wrote the prescriptions for an associate, Robert Kosch, 56, of Newark, N.J. who sold the pills on the black market, according to a report in The Morning Call.

Manzella has been in private practice with his brothers for the past two years, according to the Manzella Family Healthcare website, and presently has privileges at Palmerton Hospital and St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Center.

Manzella has offices in Palmerton and Jim Thorpe.
